About the role
We are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Group Safety & Security Team in Doha as Senior Manager People Safety and Health.
This role is based in Doha and will be responsible for ensuring the continued development of the QR Group Health, Safety and Fire Safety performance throughout the organization. To be the custodian for the QR Group OHS Policy, Health & Safety Manual, and relevant policies. To maintain accreditation to international safety management systems standards. The role is also responsible for ensuring the wider organization complies with current local and international health and safety legislation, and approved codes of practice. In addition, the role supports the operations by ensuring the health and safety of customers while on ground across the group operations in various business units. In this role, you will work proactively interact with other members of the leadership team to establish and maintain an effective health and safety system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the organization including fire safety.
Key accountabilities:
- As a member of the senior leadership team, provide significant contribution to strategic plans to improve Safety and Health by working with various stakeholders across the group.
- Liaise with Internal & external stakeholders to maintain accreditation to ISO45001 occupational health and safety management system.
- Develop and Lead the implementation of the Occupational Health & Safety Strategy as well as Fire Safety companywide.
- Analyse and understand the Health and Safety strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to further develop the OHS management system based on industry best practice and innovation.
- Develop reports and presentations, including data analysis for delivery to organisational leadership and external stakeholders
- Develop plans and procedures to manage customer incident reports on ground, to identify trends and solutions.
- Responsible to ensure that employees at all levels understand work health and safety requirements and expectations.
- Maintain and review the the corporate OHS Risk Register to address health and safety risks that can impact people and operations.
- Ensure compliance in the QR Group to Qatar Airways OHS Policy and manual with regards to all health , safety and fire aspects.
- Implement best practice resource management through accurate and detailed forecasting, planning and allocation to deliver operational excellence.
- Introduce, improve and deliver best practice processes, procedures and controls with clear communication on accountabilities and responsibilities.
- Challenge status quo and strive for continuous improvement throughout the business.
- Make decisions based on facts and analysis, while establishing clear priorities.
- Build value partnerships and networks with our stakeholders and industry leaders.
- Communicate effectively and represent Qatar Airways at Group level, with industry governing bodies and policy makers.
- Establish and regularly evaluate the department or team objectives and priorities to align with and support the wider business objectives.
- Oversee and supervise employees, direct daily activities and implement training or recruitment activities when required.
Qualifications
About you
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience, out of which 5 years in a managerial position.
- Expert knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety systems and procedures in an operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of Fire safety
- Must possess a strong, decisive and collaborative leadership style.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Sound knowledge of safety management systems, report writing, investigation processes and fire safety systems.
- Change management experience is preferred.
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to analyse data.
- You will be a confident and energetic communicator with strong Leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a highly demanding, agile and multicultural environment.
- Hands on mentality with an ability to delegate work as well as foster teamwork.
