About the role
You will responsible for providing support to the Division by establishing safety protocols and evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and ensuring HSE compliance with laws, QR policies, procedures and best practices.
Accountabilities
- Establish a Health and Safety Culture including development and implementation of SOP in the division to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, visitors and community.
- Stay abreast of all applicable legislation and standards, policies and procedures and perform regular on site HSE audits, investigations and inspections
- Perform, spot checks in order to determine root causes for any gaps/non-compliance and suggest and monitor/follow up corrective actions to ensure completion and compliance.
- Perform routine surveillance of critical areas within commercial and residential properties.
- Training, coaching and advising colleagues/peers on risk & hazard identification, assessment and mitigation/avoidance in the workplace and ensuring implementation of HSE programs.
- Set up PTW, LOTO, confined space, lone working, working at height & other HSE protocols.
- Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
- Ensure timely reporting of incidents as per QR policies and procedures.
- Maintain records of discharge of, or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants.
- Review safety obligations of the contractors and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the agreement.
- Assist Manager Compliance, QR Health and Safety in other duties pertaining to HSE.
Qualifications
About you
You will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years specialist of job-related experience required.
- Safety related certifications
- Full understanding of the principles of doing a risk assessment based on a sound method statement. Knowledge and experience in working with an ISO H&S Quality Management System.
- Knowledge and experience in working with an ISO H&S Quality Management System.
- Command of English language – report writing, presentations and spoken
- Managerial skills – Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop skills of colleagues. Ability to drive consensus and foster teamwork.
- Understanding the principles of the “Controlling Mind” when it comes to setting H&S protocols.
