Primary Responsibility:

Tradewind Aviation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Director of Operations to join our team in Southeast, Florida (West Palm vicinity). The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Director of Operations in the supervision of all flight operations activities, including flight crew scheduling, training, and regulatory compliance.

The Southeast Assistant Director of Operations is the Flight Operations Department’s principal representative in our Southeast Region.  The SEADO’s primary responsibility is to oversee Florida-based pilots and to facilitate communication between those pilots and all other team members at Tradewind Aviation. The SEADO supports local crewmembers and helps facilitate the needs of those crewmembers while coordinating with the needs of all other departments. The SEADO is a partial flying job with assigned office days in their schedule. The SEADO reports to the Director of Operations.

The duties and responsibilities consist of and include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervise flight operations activities, including flight crew scheduling, training, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist the Director of Flight Operations in managing the daily operations of the flight department.
  • Provide support and guidance to flight crew members to ensure the highest level of safety and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the maintenance of aircraft and ensure that all maintenance is performed in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all FAA regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for flight crew members.
  • Conduct regular reviews of flight operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective action as necessary.
  • Participate in meetings with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of activities.
  • Conduct required audits of aircraft and facilities.
  • The Assistant Director of Operations may delegate these functions to subordinates but may not delegate the responsibility for those functions.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Aviation Related College Degree preferred, but not required

Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses & Document Requirements:

  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license
  • Valid unrestricted passport
  • FAA First Class Medical
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate – Airplane Single-Engine Land (ASEL)
  • FAA Instrument Rating
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit

Experience & Professional Skills:

  • Experience in flight operations management
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and industry standards
  • 1,200+ hours total time, 1,500+ hours preferred
  • 500 hours cross country (point to point)
  • 75 hours instrument
  • 100 hours night
  • 100 hours of PC-12 experience, preferred
  • Current IFR knowledge and experience
  • Previous customer service experience

  • Regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Load and unload aircraft as necessary.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting is required (up to 70lbs).

Location Requirements:

  • Operation base in Waterbury–Oxford Airport – Stuart, FL (KSUA)
  • Must be able to relocate within 90 minutes from base.
  • Due to our operations this position is NOT commutable.
  • There will be no relocation package for this position.
  • The position may require additional travel.

Shift Requirements:

  • One day per week PC-12 flying duty
  • One day per week supervising ground operations
  • Three days per week supervising flight operations/supporting the flight operations department.
  • Must be available for assigned shifts; including nights, weekends and holidays.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
